Information For Your NCCPT Exam or Re-taking your NCCPT Exam

You may contact a Lasergrade testing center at  800-211-2754  within 48 hours or purcharsing your personal trainer certification package. Go to their website at LaserGrade.com to find a testing center near you.

1. You must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Bring two forms of ID with you to the testing center. One must be a photo ID.
3. You must present the testing center with a valid CPR card or you will not be able to take the exam.
4. Your exam will be graded immediately upon completion of the exam. Examination results are reported as PASS (with a numerical scaled score) or FAIL (with a numerical scaled score) to indicate whether a candidate has demonstrated the knowledge required to meet standards of competence as defined by the profession. Candidates will receive their official Score Report at the test center, upon completing the examination.The total scaled score you achieved on the examination determines whether you pass or fail. The scale ranges from 200 – 900 and a scaled score of 655 is set as the passing score on the CPT Examination. Passing scores are determined through the modified Ebel process, a statistical procedure for establishing the minimum pass level using the judgment of experts. Through this process, the raw score required to pass is established. This raw score is then set to equal a scaled score of 655. A scaled score is not a percentage score.
5. Upon passing the exam we will send your Personal Trainer Certification within 30 days.
6. If you do not pass the exam you may retake it within 48 hours of  paying the re-take fee. You must contact us at  800-778-6060  to purchase your re-take or purchase it on line at nccpt.com or paste this into your browser http://www.nccpt.com/user/ReTakeExam.aspx
7. Each re-take will cost $119.
8. If you do not complete and pass the exam within the 6 months from the original purchase date, there will be a $75* late charge to take your exam.
9. The CPTE can be taken up to three times in a 12 month period. This 12 month period begins on the first exam date. There is a $119 fee for each re-take of the examination. Payment of this fee is required prior to authorization to scheduling a new test time.

 LaserGrade/PSI Information

1. Candidates will schedule their examination appointment by calling LASERGRADE’S registration department at  1-800-211-2754 . The registration department is available at the following times (excluding holidays, emergency closings):
   1. Monday through Friday 6:00am - 5:00pm Pacific Time
   2. Saturday 6:00am - 2:00pm Pacific Time
      Appointments must be scheduled with a minimum of 24 hours notice.
      Appointments are made based on availability.
2. Candidates must provide no less than 24 hours notice (Monday-Friday) to reschedule/cancel their testing appointment. Rescheduling/cancellation is done through LASERGRADE’S Central Registration Office NOT the local testing center. Failure to provide 24 hours notice will result in forfeiture of the examination fee and the candidate will be required to pay another examination fee in order to schedule another testing appointment.
   1. Exceptions to this policy may be granted based on medical or weather related emergency.
   2. Requests for waivers must be submitted to LASERGRADE in writing within 72 hours of the testing appointment and must include a doctor note verifying a medical emergency.
3. Candidates who fail to appear for their scheduled examination appointment will be reported as a no-show and forfeit their examination fee. Candidates will be required to repay to schedule another examination appointment.

Candidates are provided the option of receiving a fax or email confirmation of their examination appointment. This confirmation will provide the candidate the exam title, date, time and location of their examination appointment as well as a phone number for the testing center. Failure to receive a fax or email confirmation does not invalidate the candidate’s testing appointment. Candidates are responsible for noting the date, time and location of their testing appointment.
