When you lift your purse or briefcase, do you have the exact same weight stabilizing you on the opposite side? When you open or close a door, pick up a book, a frying pan, a glass of water, a can of paint or for that matter, perform anything with one arm, you’ll always be “loaded” on one side and stabilizing on the other.
At this day and age there are many uncertainties in business and the fitness industry especially.
As a personal trainer, you got into this profession because you enjoy being healthy and fit but you also have this unique passion for helping other people achieve things that they didn’t think they were capable of.
This is what I love most about the industry we have chosen. No other profession genuinely cares so much about helping other people. Talk about creating IMPACT.
New CEU Course: Unilateral Training
Let’s start with getting the basics out of the way. First, the majority of sport are performed on one leg. Running, stopping, cutting and jumping primarily occur with one legs' force production. Second, single leg training is an accessory exercise to program design, and therefore not the end all, be all of exercise modalities. Lastly, it is important to incorporate a well-balanced program before introducing single leg training and to progress your client safely and slowly.
GAIN for Trainers is a mobile app platform that allows you to send custom workouts to your clients and hold them accountable 24/7.
This demo video shows how to program and schedule workouts for clients by selecting exercises and adding sets, reps and other protocols. The Client App demo shows how the client receives the workout and gets a rich guided and automatically tracked workout experience, which is all reported back to the trainer.
Developed by personal trainers for personal trainers, GAIN is easy to use, and a great way to help your clients continue to achieve their goals when you can’t physically be there. This totally beats what you’ve been doing before—with texts, email, and spreadsheets!
If you have been thinking about adding a Nutrition Counseling component to your business, and want to learn from the best, I have a Special Event to share with you…

I’m sure all of you could use more clientele. Please check out the Off Day Trainer app because studies show that sales prospects who are sent text messages convert at a rate 40% higher than those who are not sent text messages. This app is super cool. It already provides you a variety of text messages to use with your clients plus you can customize your own! If you’re in the Los Angeles/San Fernando area check out ProAthlos which is like “Uber” for trainers.
If you’re close to Newbury Park, Ca, we’re now allowing trainers to rent our gym space per-session or per-month. Photos are on our Facebook page.
We’ll be introducing a referral program whereby with just your email address you’ll be able to earn 10% commission on anyone you refer. I’m going to begin teaching weekend workshops next year. The first one is January 21-22nd. If you need CEU’s please come and if not, just refer someone and you’ll get 10%!
Remember, what the holidays are about — sharing, giving and enjoying and appreciating each other and the gifts we’ve received.
Unfortunately, myths run rampant when most people have never even stepped foot inside a group fitness class. If you have obtained a group instructor certification from National Council for Certified Personal Trainers, Here are the biggest myths you need to be aware of, which might be ruining your fitness classes.
How Much Protein?
Small doses of essential amino acids are most effective in maximizing muscle protein synthesis after exercise. There is no evidence to suggest that consuming large amounts of amino acids(e.g. greater than 40 grams of protein) will provide a muscle –building boost. For example, 6 to 10 grams of essential amino acids (attainable by consuming 15 to 20 grams of high-quality protein) with some carbohydrate has been shown to optimize muscle protein synthesis.
Need more Clients?
You’ve just gotten certified and you need clients, or you’ve been working for someone and want to branch out on your own. Or, maybe you’ve lost some clientele and need to replace them. Maybe you’ve just been hired as a personal trainer and whether you like it or not, if you’re not training clients, eventually you’re going to be let go.
