If you’re about to embark on a quest to run your first marathon or you’re training someone who wants to complete a marathon, then train smart. This is no easy task. If you want to prevent injury and successfully complete your first marathon then this course is a must.
I not only enjoy running, I know a few things about the body and fitness. I have my Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from Northern Illinois University and my Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from California State University. In addition, I have been certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 19997 as well as obtaining a number of other certifications in various areas of health and fitness. I have worked as both and Exercise Physiologist and a Personal Trainer for the past 16 years. I currently run my own training business, Kym’s Functional Fitness, in the Los Angeles area.
I am often asked why I run; as if it is something so unusual. My simple answer is I run because I can (what better way to celebrate having been blessed with a healthy body). For the beginner, running can seem like an impossible task. However, getting started is as simple as putting one foot in front of the other; setting goals and challenging yourself one step farther each time you run. For me, running helps me to be a better wife, mother, trainer, friend, etc. Running is my “me time” - my mind, my body, my soul. At 6’1, I am not built for speed, but I enjoy the mental and physical challenge of distance running.
I hope that no matter what your build, physical condition or experience is, you will find running to not only be enjoyable, but accept the challenge to run your first marathon.
